BMW 540i with a 6-speed: my new ride.

Yay!

Blogroll-o-rama

September 20th, 2004 8 comments

I got fed up with not knowing who last updated their blog, so I wrote my own magic blogroll script. My blogroll is now sorted by most recent update, with the site on the left being the most current. The update schedule hasn’t been finalized yet, but it’ll probably happen several times a day.

Unfortunately, some of the blogs in the list are proving difficult to decode, generally because they haven’t been updated in a while. Start posting again, and I’ll see what I can do 🙂

Anything is possible

Now, I don’t usually do this, but…

If you need a little reminder that just about anything is possible with enough determination, check out this video (2MB) of a dog named Faith. Wow.

As long as we’re on the topic of videos, take a gander at this Top Gear video (40MB) of the Porsche Carrera GT (thanks to SleepyFish for the file). Damn! That video sums up how I feel about my dream car!

😀

The location: Ford dealer in Rochester, Minnesota (70 miles south of the Twin Cities)

The subject: A silver type-996 Porsche 911.

The involved parties: A salesman named Josh and me

The full extent of the personal data that Josh knew about me: My first name

The experience: Test-driving the 911 around the outskirts of Rochester

The result: 🙂

The reason this is notable: It was the first time I’d ever test-driven any car at a dealership (don’t they usually check for at least a driver’s license?). It was also the first time that I’ve ever driven a type-996 911. I was on Cloud 9 the entire time!

The moral: If you dress nicely, show confidence, and can talk intelligently, doors will open for you.

The best sales line I heard from Josh: “Buy a sports car before you’re married. Miss that window, and you’ll be stuck with a minivan; there’s my Freestar.”

Tempting. Oh, so tempting.

Random

Four random things:

1) I solved a tricky problem at work today! I rule!

2) I’d like to get a group together to go see the Hockey World Cup semifinal game in St. Paul next Friday. If you’re in Minnesota and are interested, let me know.

3) No, Mutak has not dropped off the face of the planet, although his blog has. Apparently some sort of update snafu besmirched his page. I think we’re all adrift now that we don’t know who made the most recent page update…

4) I’m beginning to realize just how wide the opportunities are for my future (in a good way).
